Valencia vs Leganes – Estadio Mestalla – Saturday 20th October – Kick off 3:15pm UK time
Two teams at the wrong end of the table in Valencia and Leganes meet at the Mestalla on Saturday afternoon following positive results in their last game.
Valencia have made a poor start in the league, sitting in 14th place, but picked up a solid point before the international break in a 1-1 draw with Barcelona.
They also have just one point from two games in the Champions League and with a trip to Switzerland to face Young Boys on Tuesday, they may make changes for the visit of Lega.
Los Pepineros find themselves in the relegation zone with just seven points to their name, however three of those came in their last game with a 1-0 win at home to Rayo Vallecano.
Their other points came with a surprise win over Barcelona and a draw with Real Sociedad but all of those points came at home, which will give Valencia the confidence that a home win is on the cards come Saturday.
Last season’s two meetings went the way of Valencia, winning 3-0 at home and 1-0 away.
Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jeison Murillo are both available but having not trained properly after their international exertions, are not expected to start the game. Christian Piccini and Denis Cheryshev however have trained all week and are likely to begin on Saturday. Goncalo Guedes will miss Saturday’s game but has a chance of featuring in Switzerland.
Leganes will be without the services of five players in Alexander Szymanowski, Jose Arnaiz, Unai Bustinza, Ezequiel Munoz and Diego Rolan through injury but otherwise, Mauricio Pellegrino has a full squad to pick from.
Valencia (4-4-2): Neto; Piccini, Garay, Gabriel, Gaya; Soler, Parejo, Coquelin, Cheryshev; Gameiro, Rodrigo
Leganes (4-4-2): Cuellar; Tarin, Bustinza, Siovas, Silva; El Zhar, Vesga, Perez, Oscar; Santos, Carillo
