Real Madrid 1-2 Levante: Lopetegui may not last the weekend

Real Madrid lost 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon to put even more pressure on boss Julen Lopetegui.

The defeat puts even more pressure on the former Spanish national coach, who has now failed to guide his side to a win in any of their last five games, losing four of them.

Lopetegui’s side fell behind as early as the sixth minute when the lively Jose Luis Morales found the back of the net. The winger’s strike stunned a less-than-packed Bernabeu, who failed to see their side produce anything clear cut in the first 45 minutes.

Roger Marti made matters worse, as the striker grabbed a second for the visitors from the penalty spot.

Former Barcelona keeper Oier Olazabal was in good form in the second half as Los Blancos attempted to get themselves back in the game,

The home side did get back into the game as Marcelo fired a superb effort past Levante keeper Olazabal.

The Brazilian full-back’s goal ended a run of 482 minutes without a goal, although it could not prevent them from losing.

Madrid face Barcelona next week in the first El Clasico of the season, but it is not yet known if Lopetegui will still be at the helm.
