Celta Vigo boss Antonio Mohamed is on the brink of being sacked from the club after losing 1-0 to Alaves on Friday night.
A single goal from Tomas Pina saw Alaves beat Celta at the Balaidos on Friday to send the Basque side to the top of La Liga heading into the weekend’s action.
The result focused on the away side’s success so far this season, but left Celta sitting in 13th with just two wins out of a possible nine.
Fans of the club have made their feelings felt in recent home games and Friday’s game was no different as many left before the final whistle, leaving the club to look at the current situation.
And, it is now reported that a decision could be made by Celta on the future of the Argentine coach.
Celta host Eibar next weekend and it is thought Mohamed will be allowed one more week to turn things around and begin to convince board members and fans that he is the right man for the job.
Mohamed, who is of no illusion that his job is up for debate – spoke with reporters after the game, but chose to look at former Celta bosses, who have been in a similar position.
“The future of the coach depends on results, but their have been other coaches in my position.
“(Eduardo) Berizzo was in the same situation. He did not win in ten games, but managed to turn things around. I will continue to work hard and get the best results I can for this team. We must overcome bad situations.”
