Two of the early season surprise packages Real Valladolid and Espanyol go head to head on Friday night with one of the sides guaranteed to go top or joint top of La Liga regardless of the result.
Espanyol were tipped by many to struggle this season but sit second after nine games, just one point behind Catalan rivals Barcelona having lost just twice all season, away at Real Madrid and third placed Alaves.
Hosts on Friday night Real Valladolid, failed to score in their opening four games, losing 1-0 twice with two goalless draws before scoring for the first time in a 3-3 draw at Celta Vigo.
Since then however, things have turned around with four straight wins over Levante, Villarreal, Huesca and Real Betis stretching their unbeaten run to five games and lifting them to sixth in the table, one point ahead of Real Madrid.
These two last met in the 2013/14 La Liga season with the home side coming out on top on both meetings, the Zorrilla clash seeing Valladolid win 1-0 while Espanyol were 4-2 winners in Catalonia.
Valladolid are without Duje Cop with a muscle injury while Keko Gontan, Antonio Cotan, Alberto Guitian, Luismi, Oscar Plano and Moises Delgado are also out.
Espanyol on the other hand have no new injury worries, giving boss Rubi the pick of his players as they aim to go top of the pile.
