Athletic Club vs Valencia – San Mames – Saturday 26th October – Kick off 3:15pm UK time
Athletic Club and Valencia are two of the biggest names in Spanish football but neither has made a strong start this season, with both clubs languishing just above the relegation zone.
The two teams have just two wins between them all season and currently sit in 17th and 14th place respectively. The Bilbao side were held to a disappointing draw at Rayo Vallecano in a rearranged game in midweek and could find themselves in the bottom three with a defeat on Saturday.
Valencia on the other hand despite only winning one game, have also only lost once but they are the draw specialists with seven of their nine games ending in a stalemate, including their last game which also came against a team in the bottom three in Leganes.
A defeat for either side could well see a loss of a job for managers Eduardo Berizzo and Marcelino.
Both meetings between the sides last year were entertaining for the neutral with a 1-1 draw at San Mames while Valencia came out on top at the Mestalla, winning 3-2.
Berizzo will be without Inigo Lekue and Benat Etxebarria for the Valencia visit but will have a full attacking outlet to pick from. Yeray Alvarez, Dani Garcia and Raul Garcia are all likely to feature despite being a booking away from a suspension.
Valencia have four first team players missing with Santi Mina, Goncalo Guedes, Cristiano Piccini and Denis Cheryshev all sitting this one out through injury.
Athletic Club (4-3-3): Herrerin; De Marcos, Yeray, Inigo, Yuri; Raul Garcia, Dani Garcia, Muniain; Susaeta, Aduriz, Williams
Valencia (4-4-2): Neto; Vezo, Garay, Gabriel, Gaya; Soler, Parejo, Kondogbia, Wass; Gameiro, Batshuayi
Athletic Club 1-1 Valencia
