Copa del Rey: Real Madrid secure first Solari win; Lenglet wins it for Barca

Real Madrid won their first game under the reign of Santiago Solari, beating Melilla 4-0 on Wednesday evening.

After last week’s mauling at the hands of Barcelona in El Clasico, Solari was installed as Madrid boss after the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.

His first game in charge was against Melilla then in the round of 32 in the Copa del Rey, where he saw his side thump the lower league outfit.

Karim Benzema was on hand to open the scoring, before Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola and Cristo Ramon Gonzalez Perez netted.

Getafe secured a 2-1 away win over Cordoba thanks to a brace from Jaime Mata, cancelling out Bruno’s own goal.

Daniele Verde continued his excellent scoring form with a brace for Real Valladolid against RCD Mallorca, although the home side performed well and almost got themselves back in the game when Sergio Buenacasa struck with twenty minutes remaining.

Alaves and Girona played out a 2-2 draw as goals from Ruben Sobrino and Martin Aguirregabiria gave the home side a 2-1 lead heading into the final minutes – but Eric Montes Arce’s 96th minute leveller saw the visitors return home with two away goals.
