Diego Simeone could be without Koke, Diego Godin and Diego Costa for the La Liga fixture against Leganes this weekend.
Atleti face Leganes on Saturday at mid-day, but having not had any of the aforementioned trio at training on Wednesday or Thursday – they could be forced to make a number of changes.
All three players did individual work as they recovered from their respective injury problems, giving Simeone a headache leading into the game against the league’s 18th placed side.
Godin and Costa both have muscular problems, whilst Koke is struggling with a thigh problem.
None of them took part in Atleti’s slender 1-0 win over Sant Andreu earlier this week in the Copa del Rey round of 32.
Simeone’s men dominated the game, but a sole Gelson Martins strike was all they could manage.
Martins’ performance could see him start instead of the injured Costa, whilst Thomas Partey is expected to play in midfield for Koke.
Sitting 4th in the league table, Atleti can go top with a win on Saturday as they currently sit two points off league leaders Barcelona.
Barca face off against Rayo Vallecano later in the evening where they will be deemed favourites to reclaim that top spot should Atleti win.
