Thorgan Hazard has backed his brother Eden’s decision to reject a move to Real Madrid, saying it is not the right time.
The Chelsea midfielder has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu for over a year and even more so, when the Spanish club allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to leave for Italian side Juventus.
Thibaut Courtois left Stamford Bridge this summer for a move to Los Blancos and whilst it was expected that Hazard would follow – a move failed to materialise.
Speculation however, does continue – with Madrid desperately looking to improve their season after a miserable start which ended with a 5-0 beating at the hands of bitter rivals Barcelona and the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.
Reports in England and Spain now claim that Madrid chief Florentino Perez will attempt to get his man in January.
But, Hazard’s brother Thorgan – has dismissed such reports, claiming his brother is not ready to make the move.
Speaking about his brother’s future, he told Belgian newspaper HLN, as cited on the Express: “I think Eden will see what happens at the end of the season. I know him, he is not thinking about a move right now.
“He will give everything to Chelsea. He doesn’t want a clash with his club either. If he ever leaves, he will play it correctly.”
Chelsea are now weighing up a fresh contract offer for the Belgian international, but the midfielder’s previous desire to move to Madrid could halt that deal.
Madrid won at the weekend, beating Real Valladolid 2-0 with goals coming from Vinicius Junior and Sergio Ramos.
