Alaves are sweating on medical tests that will confirm the extent of Tomas Pina’s injury suffered at the weekend.
The Spanish midfielder was forced to leave the pitch against Eibar after an hour, suffering an injury to his right thigh.
Abelardo’s side have been a revelation this term and have sat amongst the top six in La Liga for a number of weeks, but the weekend defeat to Eibar has seen them take a step backwards.
Pina’s injury which will be examined on Monday afternoon, could leave Abelardo with a problem area in midfield – having seen Wakaso be ruled out for two weeks with a sprained shoulder.
Both Pina and Wakaso have been in good form this season so far, meaning their time out could cost the Basque side.
Jony Rodriguez gave Alaves the lead on Sunday after just four minutes, but goals from Joan Jordan and Pape Diop saw the tie turned on its head.
Ruben Duarte’s sending off after just 24 minutes played a part in the 1-0 lead slipping, but the odds were even when Pablo de Blasis was dismissed on the hour mark.
The result does keep Alaves joint second with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid, sitting four points behind league leaders Barcelona, who came from behind to beat Rayo Vallecano.
