Barcelona will be without Philippe Coutinho for the next three weeks due to a hamstring problem.
The Brazilian was seen in some discomfort towards the end of Barca’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan on Tuesday evening and reports have now confirmed that he did suffer a problem.
A medical report on Wednesday has now said that the former Liverpool midfielder suffered a small tear in left leg muscle and will need 2-3 weeks to recover.
Coutinho was arguably Barca’s best player against Inter and has been performing well this season, and especially in Lionel Messi’s absence of late.
He will now miss the game against Real Betis at the weekend, plus the upcoming games against Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven – which follow the international break.
Coutinho has bagged five goals and four assists in his 16 appearances for the Catalan giants this term, helping them sit top of La Liga.
Leo Messi, who did not feature against Inter, is expected to make a return from a fracture in his right arm – against Betis at the weekend.
Barca, who have qualified for the last-16 of the Champions League following their draw with Inter, have two games left in the group stages, against PSV and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.
