Sergio Gonzalez has told his Real Valladolid players that he does not want a repeat performance to that of the defeat to Real Madrid.
Valladolid had a poor start to the season but a six game unbeaten run before losing at Real Madrid last weekend has seen them push up the table and they’ll hope to climb even higher before the international break.
Saturday’s clash will be the first meeting of the sides in over 12 years, with Valladolid winning 1-0 at the Ipurua in the Segunda division in May 2006 the last time the two played each other.
Sergio, who has been at the forefront of their improved form – has told reporters that his side must improve from the defeat last week.
“It was a good performance, but I do not want to repeat that, because it will not help us beat Eibar.
“Eibar are a good team and it will be a complicated match. We are looking at what has got us where we are, our DNA and we will look to build on that.”
Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men came from behind to win last week’s clash with local neighbours Alaves at the Ipurua to lift themselves up to 12th in the table, two points behind Getafe, Valladolid and Girona who complete the top half of the league.
Valladolid manager Sergio has a near fully fit squad to choose from with attacker Ivi Lopez and youngster Mohammed Salisu the only absentees after they missed training on Thursday. Keko Gontan is fit to return however with no other injury worries to contend with.
