Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran believes Jan Oblak is the best goalkeeper in the world and he is confident his teammate will remain at the club.
The Slovenia international has been outstanding for Los Rojiblancos since joining them from Portuguese giants Benfica in the summer of 2014.
The 25-year-old has kept six clean sheets in all competitions this season and he is a key reason why Diego Simeone’s side boast the best defensive record in La Liga, with only eight goals conceded in 12 matches.
Reports have recently suggested that Oblak is seeking a move away from Atletico but Juanfran believes the shot-stopper will remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.
“I think that Oblak is going to continue with us,” he told El Larguero.
“For me, he’s the best in the world and I hope that he can remain with us for many years to come. I’m sure that the club will do everything to keep him for many years.
“I’ve been with De Gea and Courtois, but Oblak is the best in the world because he always delivers in the most important moments.”
During his four-year spell at Atletico, Oblak has won the Spanish Super Cup, the Europa League, and the UEFA Super Cup.
The goalkeeper is currently away on international duty with Slovenia who face UEFA Nations League fixtures against Norway and Bulgaria.
