His father Mazinho, who also acts as his agent – has told reporters that the midfielder is confused at not being selected by Valverde.
De Jong closer to PSG than Barcelona
Frenkie De Jong looks more likely to join Paris Saint Germain, according to reports on Wednesday across Europe.
The Dutch midfielder has emerged as one of European football’s hottest prospects, prompting the likes of PSG, Barca, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to all contact Ajax.
Barca had emerged as favourites as they looked to seal a deal for both De Jong and Matthijs De Ligt, however, it now seems that PSG are closing in on a £75m move.
Barca agreed premium deal for Coutinho with Liverpool
Reports on Wednesday have claimed that Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona involved a premium which ensured that Barca do not sign any more players from Liverpool.
To do so, the Catalan side would have to pay £89m for their wanted player.
Meanwhile, Coutinho took part in Barcelona’s training session on Wednesday morning and is set to be given the green light ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Atletico Madrid.
