Alaves have agreed a partnership with Japanese side Kagoshima United; whilst Abelardo has been discussing his side’s defeat to Leganes on Friday evening.
Abelardo’s side have been in fine form this season and another three points would have seen them go top of the La Liga table, albeit until Barcelona and Atletico Madrid played their game on Saturday evening.
The home side started the game well but in truth, both sides played a cautious approach – something both Abelardo and Mauricio Pellegrino had discussed during their pre match press conferences.
Leganes’ strike force En=Nesyri and Guido Carillo were both looking sharp and they tested away keeper Fernando Pacheco during the first half.
Dimitrios Siovas fired over the cross bar through another chance for Leganes, before En-Nesyri broke the deadlock just moments before the interval.
The former Malaga man’s goal was enough to see out the game as visiting boss Abelardo spoke of his pride of his players following the full time whistle.
“Our start has been spectacular, but we have a difficult schedule ahead. It is a blessing to play against these teams, we have to remain humble and know our goals,” he told reporters.
“Our season is still great, winning games in this league is as difficult for Alaves as it is for Leganes. It was an even match, but they scored a very good goal and defended well afterwards.
“I am proud of my players. Our goal remains to stay in this league, and I have insisted this from day one.”
Partnership with Kagoshima United
It has now been confirmed that Alaves and Kagoshima United have agreed a partnership, which will see the latter develop their first team and an academy in the Kagoshima area.
The move sees Alaves extend their partnerships with global clubs, having already agreed deals with Croatian side Istra and French club Sochaux.
