Real Valladolid vs Leganés: Hosts determined to return to winning ways

Real Valladolid will welcome Leganés at the Estadio José Zorrilla this weekend looking to end their winless run.

Real Valladolid vs Leganés – Estadio José Zorrilla – Saturday 1st December – Kick-off 3.15pm UK time

For Valladolid, their stunning start to life in the Spanish top-flight has hit a snag lately with no wins in four La Liga games.

Despite putting in a fine display at Sevilla last Sunday, Valladolid’s efforts went unawarded with a 1-0 defeat after André Silva’s goal.

It means Sergio González’s side have dropped to the bottom half of the standings with no goals in their last 3 matches.

Meanwhile, Leganés put an end to their four-match winless run by beating Deportivo Alaves at home last time out.

Los Pepineros are now two points clear of the relegation zone in 17th and will be looking to build on the momentum gained from last week’s win.

However, the capital club’s struggles on the road cannot be ignored with no wins in their last 22 away league matches.

Team News

Injured defensive duo Kiko Olivas and Mohammed Salisu have both made a welcome return to full training at Valladolid.

Olivas had been struggling with an ankle injury, which forced him to skip last Sunday’s defeat to Sevilla.

While Salisu is yet to make his first-team debut after being sidelined for the past two months.

But Levante loanee Ivi López is a doubt after being forced to abandon training to receive medical attention on his ongoing left hip problem.

Currently, captain Javi Moyano is the only member of Valladolid who will definitely be out due to a muscular problem.

On the other hand, Leganés coach Mauricio Pellegrino has his own series of injury problems to deal with. The 47-year-old will be without Diego Rolan, Recio, Alexander Szymanowski, Ezequiel Muñoz and Michael Santos.

Goalkeeper Iván Cuéllar is also doubtful after having to withdraw with a hamstring problem at Girona earlier this month. The 34-year-old has returned to training at Leganés, but it’s expected that Andriy Lunin will start in goal again.
