Sergio Gonzalez wants his Real Valladolid side to get back to winning ways against Leganes this weekend.
For Valladolid, their stunning start to life in the Spanish top-flight has hit a snag lately with no wins in four La Liga games.
Despite putting in a fine display at Sevilla last Sunday, Valladolid’s efforts went unawarded with a 1-0 defeat after André Silva’s goal.
It means Sergio González’s side have dropped to the bottom half of the standings with no goals in their last 3 matches.
Meanwhile, Leganés put an end to their four-match winless run by beating Deportivo Alaves at home last time out.
Los Pepineros are now two points clear of the relegation zone in 17th and will be looking to build on the momentum gained from last week’s win.
However, the capital club’s struggles on the road cannot be ignored with no wins in their last 22 away league matches.
So what has Sergio been saying ahead of Saturday’s game?
“It is very early for everything, what we want is to get to 20 points and be in a good situation. We have not been able to get a win in four games and we want to change that.
“Every game we play is important, we must approach this with humility and treat it as difficult as any other.”
Visitors lose Recio through injury problem
The former Malaga man is expected to miss two to three weeks through injury, giving Pellegrino a selection headache.
The 47-year-old will also be without Diego Rolan, Alexander Szymanowski, Ezequiel Muñoz and Michael Santos.
Goalkeeper Iván Cuéllar is also doubtful after having to withdraw with a hamstring problem at Girona earlier this month. The 34-year-old has returned to training at Leganés, but it’s expected that Andriy Lunin will start in goal again.
