Michel may have secured his future as Rayo Vallecano coach for a little while longer with a first home win of the season as the Madrid side saw off Eibar at Estadio de Vallecas.
Adri Embarba’s second half flick from Alex Moreno’s cross was enough to make the difference in a game of few opportunities for both sides.
Eibar started the brighter of the two sides and were full of confidence having beaten Real Madrid by three goals to nil last weekend, but they failed to make their chances count.
Rayo came out forcefully after the break and made an impact with Embarba’s goal, which secured a first win since victory over Huesca in mid-September.
They were not helped by injuries however, as Gianni Imbula limped off only for his replacement, Gorka Elustondo, to be taken off with an injury of his own only minutes later.
Still though, the Basque visitors could not find their way back into the game and ended up trudging off with a defeat to bring them back down to earth.
