Lets begin our La Liga round up with a trip to Alaves, where Abelardo is celebrating his first year in charge and the club have agreed a further partnership with Coca Cola.
Abelardo celebrates first anniversary in charge of Alaves
The former Barcelona defender has arguably been the best coach in La Liga over the past 12 months, winning 20 of his 39 matches.
In truth, Alaves were in a complete rut at the time of his installment as boss, but they have since become a real threat in La Liga – sitting top of the table at one point previously this season.
Agreement with Coca Cola
The Basque club are pleased to announce that they have signed an extension to the partnership with Coca-Cola’s Iberian Division.
The agreement means that the relationship between the two will extend to a total of 21 years. Coca-Cola will continued to be the official sponsor of the Baskonia Group for the next three seasons, through various methods including Powerade.
Preparing for Girona in the Copa del Rey
Following the draw over Sevilla on Sunday evening, Alaves are now fully focused on the mid-week clash with Girona, whom they meet in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 second leg.
The Basque side are not favourites due to the 2-2 draw at home, which saw Pedro Alcala and Eric Montes net the two away goals.
Both teams are in good form ahead of the game, with Girona holding Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the weekend.
