Girona is working together with the Premier League leaders from Manchester City, and this summer, their business together meant that Patrick Roberts was loaned out to the Catalonian club.
After a quiet start at Girona, Roberts has now started his last four games for the club, and in an interview with BBC, he tells how enjoys life abroad.
“I am loving my time here at the moment. The weather is great and the food is, I must say, very good as well”.
“The language is obviously the main barrier, but everyone at the club has been nice to me and very understanding”.
Roberts is one of the few English players to play abroad, and if he continues his success in Spain, maybe there is an opportunity, that we could see more English players in La Liga in the future.
Cristhian Stuani now leads the battle for the Pichichi
Roberts has a teammate who just keeps scoring goals. Last season Christian Stuani had his best goalscoring year in his career with 21 goals in La Liga.
With his goal this weekend against Atletico Madrid, the Uruguayan is now the top scorer in Spain, having already bottled 11 goals in only 14 games. If he continues this way, he will surely beat his goal tally from last year.
Right now, there is actually a chance for, that Stuani could put Luis Suarez or Edinson Cavani on the bench for the national team. At the moment, he is definitely scoring more goals than both of them.
