Barcelona winger Malcom has been ruled out for two weeks after spraining his ankle in the win over Cultural Leonesa.
The Brazilian has found bedding himself into the Barca squad hard but his recent performances for Ernesto Valverde’s side have seen him gain extra minutes and he featured from the start at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
Goals from himself, Munir El Haddadi and a double for Denis Suarez ensured that Barca progressed, beating the lower league side 5-1 on aggregate.
Having played until the 87th minute – Malcom unfortunately sprained his ankle and was forced off in tears.
Initials reports had expected the young winger to be out for longer than confirmed, but it is now clear that he will miss 10 to 15 days of action.
Riqui Puig delighted with debut and assist
Young midfielder Puig made his first team debut for the club and has described it ‘as a dream come true’.
Puig featured from the bench for the final 35 minutes of action and assisted Denis Suarez’ second goal of the game, which delighted the on-looking Camp Nou crowd.
The youngster’s emergence follows Carles Alena’s successful promotion to the first team after he netted at the weekend in the 2-0 win over Villarreal.
The 19-year-old has been a lifelong fan of Barcelona, attending games at the age of three years of age.
“It was a debut that I have dreamed about,” Puig is cited as telling reporters by Marca.
“For the team to play well and win, and for me to register an assist was incredible, I have imagined what it would be like to play here since I was a three-year-old.
“The boss has given me an opportunity to play here and it is a dream come true.”
