Real Sociedad vs Real Valladolid: Hosts out to continue good form

Real Sociedad will take on Real Valladolid looking to build on their recent run of good form on Sunday.

Real Sociedad vs Real Valladolid – Anoeta Stadium – Sunday 9th December – Kick-off 5.30pm UK time

Under new coach Asier Garitano, Sociedad have overcome a slow start with seven points collected out of a possible 12 in their last four games.

A key player for this weekend’s fixture at Anoeta will be winger Mikel Oyarzabal, who has contributed towards four of Sociedad’s last six goals in La Liga.

Having been undefeated in their last 7 matches against Valladolid, La Real will likely view this clash as an opportunity to make some ground in the league table by breaking into the top-10.

Meanwhile, Valladolid appears to have hit a rough patch of form with no wins in their last five La Liga outings with three of them ending in defeat.

The momentum gained from their four-game winning run earlier this season is gone and, unless things start picking up soon, La Pucela will soon be nervously looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

However, their midweek Copa del Rey win over second division side RCD Mallorca will likely have eased some of the mounting pressure on coach Sergio González.

David Concha, Diego Llorente, Martín Merquelanz, Raúl Navas and Luca Sangalli are all sidelined for Sociedad ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Adding to Garitano’s problems is the uncertainty surrounding Mexican defender Héctor Moreno, who suffered a knock in their midweek Copa del Rey win against Celta Vigo.

Aritz Elustondo and Kevin Rodrigues are also injury doubts for Sociedad this weekend.

On the other hand, Garitano’s Valladolid counterpart Sergio only has the one player out in captain Javi Moyano due to a muscular problem. The 32-year-old right-back’s place in defence will likely be occupied by Antoñito once again.

Villarreal loanee Leo Suárez has recovered from a knee injury, but will likely only be able to make the bench.

Predicted Line-Ups
