Valencia 1-1 Sevilla: Diakhaby’s 92nd minute goal shares the points

Valencia snatched a 1-1 draw with Sevilla on Saturday afternoon at Mestalla.

Rewind to last season, this game would have been a top of the table clash but given the home side’s drastic form – Sevilla were deemed as huge favourites.

And, they proved their dominance when Pablo Sarabia, in superb form, opened the scoring just before the hour mark.

The impressive Spaniard took full advantage after Wissam Ben Yedder’s shot took a deflection and the ball fell at his feet – he coolly tapped home his fifth goal of the season.

Valencia did compete with Pablo Machin’s side and in truth, looked better in certain parts of the game and the attempted to keep knocking on the door in the final 30 minutes of the game.

Sevilla did have the best chances to go 2-0 ahead though as Argentine midfielder Ever Banega hit the woodwork, before Andre Silva did exactly the same as his team-mate.

Machin’s side would be made to pay for their misses as Mousa Diakhaby was able to rescue a point for an ecstatic Mestalla stadium.

Those cheers quickly turned sour though as Valencia fans whistled their team at the end of the game, having drawn their ninth game of the season.
