Real Valladolid v Atlético Madrid – Estadio Jose Zorrilla – Saturday 15th December – Kick–off 3:15pm UK Time
Valladolid welcome Atlético Madrid to Castile and Leon on Saturday afternoon looking for a shock win to potentially propel the side up into the top half of the table.
The Pucela, whose owner Ronaldo confirmed last night are interested in a move for Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior, currently sit in 12th place and have been on a poor run of form recently. Having picked up four points from the last 15 available, they did beat a strong Real Sociedad side 2-1 at the Anoeta last Sunday and will be hoping to build on this with a good run of form.
Atléti continued their unbeaten streak in the league last weekend, brushing aside Alaves 3-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano. Having picked up points in every league game since the defeat to Celta Vigo on the first of September, Los Colchoneros finished their round of Champions League group stage fixtures with a quiet 0-0 draw away to Club Brugge on Tuesday.
Sergio is set to be without three players for Saturday’s clash. Ivi Lopez has a problem with his psoas muscle and could miss the clash alongside Duje Cop, who is suffering from a fever. Stiven Plaza is also unavailable through suspension.
Although he returned to replace an injured Lucas Hernandez in last week’s win over Alaves, Jose Gimenez joins the Frenchman on the treatment table with a calf injury. Diego Costa remains out with a hamstring injury and Juanfran is a doubt with his calf injury. Filipe Luis is set to return however, with the left back recovering from his calf problem.
