Italian giant’s AC Milan have made Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose their main January target after hopes of re-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic failed to materialise.
Zlatan, who left the San Siro in 2012 for PSG was the Rossoneri’s main target but interest in the Swede has cooled.
Sky Sport journalist Emanuele Baiocchini has reported that Brazilian striker Willian is on Milan’s shortlist and a bid could be made at some point during the January window.
The interest will come as a surprise to Sociedad fans as the 27-year-old has featured just 12 times in all competitions this season after being plagued by injuries.
Sociedad will likely demand a high price for the striker to capitalise on Milan’s clear desperation to sign a goal scorer next month.
However, before any deal can be done, Milan will have to wait for UEFA’s decision over their Financial Fair Play issues.
After Edin Dzeko was heavily linked with a move away from AS Roma in the summer, the Brazilian was lined up to become the Bosnians replacement but with the former Manchester City striker staying put the deal never materialised.
Willian arrived at Anoeta, Club Deportivo Maldonado in 2016 after successful loan spells with Real Zaragoza and Las Palmas.
Since joining the Basque club, Willian has scored 37 times in 88 games, and would no doubt be a great addition to a Milan side who have now gone eight years without a trophy.
