Leganes held Celta Vigo to a 0-0 draw on Friday evening at Balaidos, despite the home side having 81% possession.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have now made it eight games unbeaten and they did all they could to limit the Galician hosts to a minimal amount of clear cut chances.
Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso’s side had the lions share of the possession during both halves but they failed to test Ivan Cuellar.
Maxi Gomes had the best chance of the game in the 73rd minute, but the Argentine frontman failed to direct his header.
Brais Mendez continued his superb form of late but he was once again denied by Cuellar, who had very little saves to make following on from that.
The visitors had a chance themselves in the second period, but former Malaga man Youssef En-Nesyri failed to take advantage of some sloppy defending and was denied by Ruben Blanco.
With the draw, Leganes are unbeaten since the 27th October when they lost 2-0 to Levante; a run which includes victory over Rayo Vallecano in Copa del Rey action.
Celta move up to eighth place in the La Liga standings but it is now three league games without a victory their new boss Cardoso.
