Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is expected to face Girona on Friday night for Getafe.
The Frenchman will begin his second spell with the Spanish side this weekend after signing on a free transfer, as confirmed by Angel Torres on Thursday morning.
The former France international is available to feature against Girona, given that he was a free signing, however, new player Samu Saiz is unavailable.
Saiz arrived from Leeds United earlier this week but will only be available after January 1st when the transfer window re-opens.
Facing Girona at Montilivi
2018 for both of these La Liga sides has been a good one as both continue to improve on a weekly basis.
Arguably, Girona have had the most successful year, finishing in the top ten last season and almost making it into European competition and beating the bookies who had them to be relegated.
For this one, it will be hard to determine a winner as both sides continue to search for that European qualification come the end of the season.
Girona have stumbled of late, having lost a number of first team regulars due to injury, which include Marc Muniesa and Patrick Roberts, who has enjoyed a good season thus far in Spain.
The home side have won just two of their last 13 games at home and they will be looking to seal three points before the annual Christmas break.
Getafe will arrive as slight favourites and they will take comfort from their away form, which has seen them lose just one of their last 12 games in Spain, boasting the league’s current longest unbeaten streak away from the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
Bordalas on season so far…..
“We have not stopped yet, ” he told reporters. “We have a difficult game, the Christmas break is good for everyone, right now we are thinking about tomorrow’s game.
“Girona are a team that we know well, they have a very defined style and they play well together. Players like Stuani, Portu and Borja Garcia make this game a difficult one.”
