Girona boss Eusebio Sacristain will not reveal until the final minute who will face Getafe on Friday evening out of Yassine Bounou and Gorka Iraizoz.
Former Athletic Bilbao stopper Iraizoz has been deputising for Bounou through his injury of late and has impressed, however, he is now expected to go back to being back-up.
Despite that presumption however, Eusebio refused to reveal who would be starting in goal against Getafe on Friday evening at Montilivi.
“I have already decided the team that will start tomorrow’s game,” he told reporters. “The choice of keeper was not an easy decision because Gorka has been performing well.
“The good news for the team is that we have two very good keepers.”
European chasers meet on Friday evening…
2018 for both of these La Liga sides has been a good one as both continue to improve on a weekly basis.
Arguably, Girona have had the most successful year, finishing in the top ten last season and almost making it into European competition and beating the bookies who had them to be relegated.
For this one, it will be hard to determine a winner as both sides continue to search for that European qualification come the end of the season.
Girona have stumbled of late, having lost a number of first team regulars due to injury, which include Marc Muniesa and Patrick Roberts, who has enjoyed a good season thus far in Spain.
The home side have won just two of their last 13 games at home and they will be looking to seal three points before the annual Christmas break.
Getafe will arrive as slight favourites and they will take comfort from their away form, which has seen them lose just one of their last 12 games in Spain, boasting the league’s current longest unbeaten streak away from the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
Eusebio still has a huge amount of injury problems ahead of the weekend’s action. Alex Granell and Valery will battle it out to feature at left wing-back. Douglas Luiz is expected to be preferred to Aleix Garcia in the middle of midfield.
