Alaves have been ordered by a Spanish court to pay the amount owed to former boss Mauricio Pellegrino.
The La Liga club were taken to court by Pellegrino and fourth of his coaching staff, Xavier Tamarit, Carlos Compagnucci, David Rodriguez and Javier Lopez Vallejo – after they failed to pay them an agreed bonus for reaching the Copa del Rey final in 2017.
The claimed payment was set at 100,000 per coach, but none of the aforementioned never received the payment a court case has since been in process.
Earlier this season, a court ruled that Alaves must pay the amounts owed but the Basque club decided to appeal, which they have now lost.
Basque derby against La Real
La Real have had a dismal season and have no consistency going into the final league game of 2018.
Asier Garitano arrived from Leganes in the summer but he has failed to guide his side to a successful period, losing three on the spin i n La Liga which leaves them sitting dangerously close to the relegation places in 15th place.
Alaves will arrive as one of the league’s in-form sides, having sat top last month and they lead the head-to-head ties against La Real by two wins heading into Friday’s 23rd game between the two.
Abelardo has no fresh selection concerns heading into the weekend. Tomas Pina and Manu Garcia are expected to feature in central midfield. Ruben Sobrino should be preferred to Borja Baston in attack.
