Ibai Gomez set for Premier League transfer tussle

Alaves forward Ibai Gomez is centre of attention for a number of Premier League sides with his contract expiring in June.

The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder has been in superb form this season for the Basque side and has gained plenty of interest from a number of onlooking Spanish and European sides.

With his current deal at Alaves set to expire in June 2019, clubs are allowed to freely talk to the 28-year-old from January 1st and that is now becoming a bit of a concern.

Interest from former club Athletic and Real Sociedad has been cited in Spanish reports, whilst Leicester City and Leeds United from England have both been interested.

Ibai Gomez spent six seasons at San Mames, appearing 145 times for Bilbao, before he left for Alaves, where he has enjoyed arguably the best form of his career.

Talks have taken place between the player and Alaves about extending his current deal at the Mendizorrotza, but an agreement is said to be some way off.

New deals for Pacheco and Laguardia

Alaves have extended the current deals of Fernando Pacheco and Victor Laguardia over the winter break.

With both players set to enter the final 18 months of current deals, it has now been confirmed that extensions have been agreed, seeing Pacheco agree until 2022 and Laguardia until 2023.

The deals follow good performances on the field, a good relationship with coaches and the club’s fans, also.

Laguardia, 29, arrived at Alaves in 2014 from Real Zaragoza and has since been a key figure in the starting eleven, making 146 appearances in which he has netted seven goals.

The Aragonese defenders helped the Basque club seal promotion to La Liga and played a big part in their Copa del Rey final appearances in 2017.

Pacheco signed in 2015 from Real Madrid and has played 136 times.
