Diego Godin, Filipe Luis and Juanfran are now free to discuss a contract with other clubs as their current deals come to an end in June.
It was somewhat of a shock last summer when the Spanish side allowed former captain and midfielder Gabi Fernandez to leave on a free transfer, but that has now been added to after president Enrique Cerezo has allowed the aforementioned trio to enter the final six months of their respective deals.
All three have played an important part in Atleti’s successes over the last ten years, but multiple reports in Spanish press now claim that they could follow Gabi out of the door to end their careers elsewhere.
Luis (33), who spent time with English side Chelsea in the middle of his long spell with Atleit – is said to be luring interest from a number of English clubs and French champions Paris Saint Germain.
Godin (32), has been linked with numerous clubs in the past – mainly Inter Milan, Juventus and Manchester United.
Whilst, Juanfran (33) could follow the likes of Fernando Torres, Andres Iniesta and David Villa by moving to Asia.
With the three players entering their final six months, questions will now rise on Diego Simeone’s future also. The Argentine has been called on to answer if he will remain in charge past the summer, but no news has since followed about his reign at the helm of the Wanda Metropolitano club.
