Santiago Solari and Sergio Ramos have held a ‘crisis’ meeting with the Real Madrid squad after the defeat to Real Sociedad at the weekend.
The defeat to La Real at the Santiago Bernabeu saw Madrid drop out of the top four and dampen Solari’s progression with the squad after replacing Julen Lopetegui in November.
Two games already in to 2019 and Los Blancos have failed to win, making their Club World Cup success a rather forgotten about triumph.
Goals from Willian Jose and Ruben Pardo saw Sociedad silence the Bernabeu faithful, but in truth – it could have been more had the former not missed a number of glaring chances.
The defeat saw Madrid return to training ahead of their Copa del Rey tie with Leganes this midweek and hold a team meeting.
Solari and Ramos are reported by Spanish daily Marca to have held the meeting at Valdebebas on Monday morning to all of the playing and coaching staff.
Marca report that both remained calm and they encouraged the squad to turn things around in the coming weeks.
With Madrid’s inconsistent form this season, they currently sit out of the La Liga title race, having collected 30 points from a possible 54, however, their Copa del Rey and Champions League hopes are still intact.
The Champions League holders face Leganes on Wednesday evening, before two tough league tests – against Andalusian pair Real Betis and Sevilla.
