Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the game as Leganes beat Huesca on Saturday.
It was only the second ever meeting in Spain’s top flight between the two sides and it proved to be the home side who secured all three points.
The visitors have struggled this season and sit rock bottom, however, a win against Real Betis in their last outing saw them end a run of 16 games without a victory.
The game in truth was fairly even as both sides shared the ball and create similar chances, none of them – clear cut.
And, it was not until the second half that the hosts started to really pull the screw.
Leganes were guilty of missing some really clear cut chances in midweek at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, but En-Nesyri ensured the Butarque would be celebrating in full voice when he scored with 15 minutes to go.
The win means Leganes move up to 14th, whilst Huesca are now looking more and more likely to face relegation, sitting bottom with 11 points from their opening 19 league games.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side will now prepare themselves for the visit of Madrid in midweek, whilst Huesca are next back in action against Atletico Madrid next weekend.
