Jordi Alba has said he wants to remain at Barcelona but is unsure whether he will be offered a new contract.
Alba’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020, but agent, Vicente Fores has claimed the former Valencia man has been waiting since 2016 for fresh terms.
The likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique have all since signed new deals, whilst the Catalan club also issued Samuel Umtiti with fresh and improved terms this summer.
Alba, who last signed a contract with Barca in 2015 – was in superb form last season, having helped his side to a La Liga and Copa del Rey double and he has continued in the same vein so far this season.
“The situation remains the same, but I do not know where the club stands,” Alba told reporters after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Eibar.
“I do not know if they want to renew my deal or not, I have not heard anything more and that is a situation I cannot control.
“I am focusing on my situation, I want to remain and I think I have been playing well, but that is all I can say.”
Reports of an exit have been present in Spanish media – with Juventus having been linked prior to the winter break in La Liga.
Claims in Mundo Deportivo last week did however claim that a deal until 2023 has been offered and that Alba is keen to tie down the deal, sooner rather than later.
And they say, included in the new deal could be an increase to his minimum release clause, which is set at 150m euros presently.
Alba has played in over 250 matches for Barca since returning to his boyhood club in 2012 from Valencia.
