Girona star Cristhian Stuani remains silent on his future as talk of a switch to local rivals Barcelona grows.
The Blaugrana are understood to be desperate to sign a striker in this month’s transfer window after losing Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi.
This has left Luis Suarez, who will turn 32 this month, having to bear most of the burden up front with 1,989 minutes of football to his name across his 23 appearances this season.
Now reports in Spain have claimed that former Middlesbrough forward Stuani has emerged as Barcelona’s top target.
The Uruguayan has enjoyed a prolific campaign over at Girona this term and is the third highest scorer in LaLiga on 12 goals in 17 games and behind only Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Furthermore, Stuani’s release clause is only €15m and he will be available to compete in the Champions League right away for Barcelona due to Girona not competing in the competition.
Speaking to reporters who followed him to his car after training on Tuesday, however, all Stuani said was: “I can’t say anything.”
Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud and Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente have also been linked with surprise moves to Camp Nou as Barcelona’s search for a back-up striker gets more desperate.
