Leganes are keen to extend Andriy Lunin’s loan spell from Real Madrid, according to reports.
Kiko Casilla’s move to Leeds United prompted Madrid to look at a recall for Lunin, but Marca are now claiming they Leganes want to extend his deal.
32-year-old keeper Casilla has failed to put himself in the running for the number one jersey at Madrid, despite making 43 appearances for them since arriving from Espanyol in the summer of 2015.
Having fallen behind the likes of Costa Rican Keylor Navas and Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who arrived from Chelsea last summer – Casilla is now on the verge of moving to England with Championship side Leeds.
Elland Road boss Marcelo Bielsa does have youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell as his first choice keeper at present, but it is expected that Casilla will be brought in to add experience and take the number one spot.
Former Athletic Bilbao boss Bielsa has remarkably guided Leeds to a current top spot in the English Championship and sees his side very much in line for a promotion to the Premier League.
His departure from the Santiago Bernabeu has led to a potential recall for Lunin, who is on loan at Leganes.
Lunin would need to return to provide cover for Keylor Navas after a recent injury to Thibaut Courtois.
The 19-year-old has started just one La Liga game at Butarque this season but is said to be happy at the club.
