Levante UD will be eyeing up this Sunday’s game against Real Valladolid as an opportunity to end their five-match winless run in LaLiga.
LEVANTE VS REAL VALLADOLID – ESTADI CIUTAT DE VALENCIA – SUNDAY 20TH JANUARY – KICK-OFF 5.30PM UK TIME
While results haven’t gone their way lately, Levante have shown flashes of improvement and were, perhaps, unlucky to have lost to Atletico Madrid last weekend following a fine display against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.
Now Paco López’s side will be looking to carry on this momentum and turn it into results starting with Valladolid at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia.
La Pucela don’t look like they’re on top of their game at the moment and were, arguably, lucky to have escaped with a point in their 1-1 draw against Valencia at Mestalla last Saturday after the hosts missed a number of great chances.
To add to their woes, Valladolid have only won one of their last 10 league outings after making such a strong start in their return to LaLiga this season.
Although the last time they faced Levante back in September, Valladolid did emerge with a 2-1 win at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
Following Thursday’s Copa del Rey game at Barcelona, Levante duo Sergio Postigo and Emmanuel Boateng are doubts after they both sustained muscular problems.
Therefore, Coke Andújar will likely take Postigo’s spot in the Levante defence alongside Róber Pier and Erick Cabaco with Roger Martí partnering José Luis Morales up front. Chema Rodríguez and Antonio Luna are the other casualties for López’s side.
Meanwhile, Valladolid coach Sergio González will have to make do without the suspended Nacho and Rubén Alcaraz.
Moi Delgado is expected to take Nacho’s spot at left-back for La Pucela this Sunday, while Míchel Herrero and Borja Fernández will likely occupy the central midfield slots.
Oscar Plano, Michel and Kiko Olivas must all tread carefully at Levante as they are just a booking away from suspension.
Levante (5-3-2): Olazábal; Jason, Coke, Cabaco, Róber, Toño; Campaña, Bardhi, Rochina; Morales, Roger
Real Valladolid (4-4-2): Masip; Moyano, Calero, Olivas, Delgado; Keko, Míchel, Borja, Villa; Unal, Plano.
