Atletico Madrid proved too strong for rock bottom side Huesca on Saturday afternoon.
With Real Madrid beating Sevilla earlier in the day, the pressure was firmly on the visitors to pick up a result against Huesca, who had every bit of pressure themselves, sitting bottom and in desperate need of a miracle to escape relegation.
Right from the get go, Atleti looked threatining and the opening chances fell their way with Frenchman Thomas Lemar missing some glaring chances.
Diego Simeone’s side would not have to wait long though as Koke played in Lucas Hernandez and he tapped the ball home to make it 1-0.
The second goal came through a good build up involving Antoine Griezmann after he played the ball into Santiago Arias and the full-back converted well from inside the six yard box.
With Atleti well on the way to pick up another three points and push league leaders Barcelona – Huesca seemed to sit back and relax, knowing that the game was over.
And, that allowed Griezmann to try and get on the scoresheet. He failed to do so, but his effort in the 71st minute which crashed off the crossbar proved vital as Koke tapped home the rebound and ensured a well deserved 3-0 win for Simeone’s men.
