Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata is still waiting to have his loan move confirmed by Atletico Madrid.
It was heavily reported before the winter break that Sevilla were closing on a deal to bring the former Real Madrid man to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan – but a deal broke down with sporting director Joaquin Caparros saying the Spanish forward’s wage demands were too high.
That left Atletico Madrid ready to pounce, citing a need to bring in a striker after an injury to Diego Costa and the heavy reliance on Antoine Griezmann this season.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus man has found playing time hard to come by at Chelsea this season and a loan deal away from England is now to be closed with Atleti.
However, final details are still set to be agreed with Morata’s agent still sorting the fine issues on the deal.
Juanma Lopez was said to be in the offices of the Wanda Metropolitano on Monday afternoon and it is now expected that an official announcement will be given by Diego Simeone’s side in the next couple of days.
Morata played for Atleti during his youth career, whilst he also had spells with Real Madrid and Italian side Juventus.
