Arsenal and Monaco are said to be the leading clubs in the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s Gelson Martins.
The Wanda Metropolitano club are attempting to meet their capped wage limit which is set at €293m per annum, and sales are now being considered by club officials.
Martins, has featured from the start just once after arriving from Sporting Lisbon and has been struggling to break into Diego Simeone’s starting eleven.
Along with Nikola Kalinic, both are now being made available for sale, according to various reports across Spain and it seems a loan deal for Alvaro Morata is now on the verge of completion.
With Martins set to be subject to offers, it is now claimed by Marca and Diario AS they he could join Arsenal or Monaco on loan this month.
On the pitch at Atleti, they secured a 3-0 win over Huesca at the weekend.
Right from the get go, Atleti looked threatining and the opening chances fell their way with Frenchman Thomas Lemar missing some glaring chances.
Diego Simeone’s side would not have to wait long though as Koke played in Lucas Hernandez and he tapped the ball home to make it 1-0.
The second goal came through a good build up involving Antoine Griezmann after he played the ball into Santiago Arias and the full-back converted well from inside the six yard box.
Griezmann then saw his effort in the 71st minute crash off the crossbar but Koke tapped home the rebound and ensured a well deserved 3-0 win for Simeone’s men.
