Eden Hazard sparks more Real Madrid rumours

Eden Hazard has sparked further reports linking him to Real Madrid, by saying ‘why not?’ when asked about joining the La Liga side.

Madrid have long been interested in Hazard with club president Florentino Perez a big admirer of the 24-year-old.

Having lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last summer, Madrid have been crying out for someone to take the former number seven’s mantel, having seen both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale become inconsistent.

Perez believes Hazard is the perfect option to see Madrid push Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the La Liga title, having failed to do so last season and this season, thus far.

Hazard is said to be keen on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and follow in the footsteps of Thibaut Courtois, who moved to to Madrid this summer from the Blues.

“Why not,” Hazard told reporters when asked about a potential move. “You know it very well. You’re asking the question, but you know what the answer will be so you do not have to ask it.

“I have won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean that I am leaving. I have always said that I wanted to explore something different after England but there are also things that might make me stay.

“After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I’m playing one of the best seasons so far. Being influenced by Zinedine Zidane? If he goes to Manchester tomorrow, for instance, I will not be going there.”

Hazard is entering the final 18 months of his deal in London and has been linked with an exit to Spain for sometime.

Both Marca and AS report the news that Chelsea have informed Perez of their asking price and that a deal is now being ‘seriously’ considered by all parties.

His potential arrival could see the likes of Isco drafted out, whilst Marcelo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have all been linked with an exit this season.
