Sky Sport Italia have reported that Diego Godin has passed a medical with Italian side Inter Milan.
Godin, who is at the heart of the Atleti defence has been linked to a large number of clubs in recent weeks, all of which are hoping to take full advantage of his expiring contract.
Inter Milan are said to be extremely keen with multiple reports claiming talks have already taken place with the Uruguayan’s agent and Sky Sport Italia have now reported that a deal has been agreed and that a medical has taken place.
The Spanish outlet claim that a two-year deal has been agreed worth €5.5m per season and the option of a third year has also been included.
A potential departure then from the Wanda Metropolitano would see Diego Simeone left with a gaping hole in his back line, whilst Juanfran is also free to discuss terms with clubs as his contract also expires this coming June.
Atleti, are reluctant to allow Godin to leave but negotiations over a new contract have not taken place as yet and that has allowed Inter officials to make contact.
Since arriving at Atleti in 2010 from Villarreal, Godin has made 364 appearances in all competitions, helping the Madrid side to a La Liga title, two Europa League titles and a Champions League runners up medal.
