Villarreal have announced the sacking of Luis Garcia after a poor run of results which sees them in real threat of relegation.
The former Getafe boss took over seven weeks ago after Javi Calleja was sacked following a drastic start to the season.
The Yellow Submarine have failed to turn around their performances though under Garcia and sit just one place off the bottom spot in La Liga.
Garcia saw results against Espanyol in the Copa del Rey and the 3-0 defeat to Valencia at the weekend go against him as directors met on Monday to discuss moving forward and ultimately decided to call time on his reign as boss at the Estadio de Ceramica.
The only victory during his seven weeks in charge came against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on December 13.
Garcia’s sacking sees him become the second manager this season to suffer that fate at the club.
Villarreal face Espanyol this coming weekend at home but it is not yet known if a new coach will be appointed by then.
