Alaves’ hopes of signing Ferran Torres on loan from Valencia have hit a standstill after receiving no sign of talks from their La Liga rivals.
The 18-year-old winger has been given chances by Los Che boss Marcelino this season and has been a regular in their Copa del Rey run which saw them reach the semi-final stage on Tuesday evening after a 3-2 win on aggregate against Getafe.
Chances in La Liga have also come with Torres scoring twice and assisting once in his last five appearances.
Alaves, who lost Ibai Gomez to Athletic Bilbao earlier in the January transfer window have said to be keen, but initial talks with Valencia have been rebuffed.
Torres is keen to remain at the Mestalla after receiving chances in the first team, whilst Marcelino wants him to play a more prominent role over the remainder of the season.
Abelardo’s Alaves have struggled so far in January, despite a good first half of the campaign and they will be hoping the signing of Takashi Inui will see them return to form.
The former Betis midfielder found playing time hard to come by at Real Betis, whom he joined last summer and completed a loan move last week.
Inui is currently helping the Japanese national team at the Asia Cup but is expected to return early next week to Spain.
