Alaves lost both Ibai Gomez and Ruben Sobrino in the January transfer window, but replaced them with Takashi Inui and Diego Rolan.
The transfer window did not start well for Abelardo’s side – losing Ibai Gomez to his former Athletic Bilbao and they lost Sobrino too late on in the market to Valencia, receiving a combined €9m for the pair.
However, whilst the transfer sum received is good for the club, the gap left by both could prove crucial to their season, which has been a success so far.
To replace the duo, Alaves have signed Japanese international Takashi Inui from Real Betis; a player with huge potential, and Diego Rolan from Leganes on loan.
Also, arriving is Alex Blanco, who completed a loan move from Valencia B earlier this week.
Nando (Extremaduro), Daniel Torres (Albacete), Ermedin Demirovic (Almeria) and Adrian Dieguez (Huesca) have all left on loan deals until the end of the season.
So, overall a good window for Alaves, spending nothing and receiving some cash – but it remains to be seen if Inui and Rolan can provide adequate form on the pitch to replace Ibai Gomez and Sobrino, who did remarkably well at the club in recent times.
