Celta Vigo managed to secure three players on loan during the transfer window, whilst they signed for the future in Gabriel Fernandez.
It has not been the best planned out seasons for the Galician club thus far, having sacked Antonio Mohamed before the winter break due to a drastic run of form and replacing him with Miguel Cardoso.
Cardoso has struggled as well, failing to find any consistencty in Celta’s football and form, yet, whilst calls for him to be sacked have been made lately, the Portuguese tactician has now been backed by the club’s board after securing three loan deals.
Lucas Olaza has arrived on a loan deal from Argentine side Boca Juniors and comes under a wave of expectation, whilst Wesley Hoedt has come in from Premier League side Southampton and he will slot straight into Cardoso’s back line.
Arguably one of the most impressive signings this month is that of Ryad Boudebouz. The 28-year-old has failed to set the world on fire at Real Betis and has now been allowed to make a go of it at the Balaidos.
Leaving the club are Robert Mazan, Dennis Eckert, Junior Alonso and Facundo Roncaglia – all on loan deals, with the latter joining Valencia.
A shrewd signing for Celta comes in the shape of Gabriel Fernandez, and whilst he has been instantly loaned back to Penarol, the 24-year-old striker is said to be a great asset.
