Former Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan could face 12.5 years in prison for an altercation in a nightclub.
The 31-year-old was recently subject to involvement in an altercation with famous Turkish pop star Berkay Sahin and left the singer with a broken nose, before allegedly revealing a firearm.
The incident made the front pages of Turkish papers and has seen Turan come under heavy criticism for enjoying a night out.
Berkay’s wife Ozlem Ada Sahin has been largely vocal in her thoughts on the attack, saying that Turan made comments to her before attacking her husband.
The comments are claimed to have been suggestive and in being so, caused her husband to question the midfielder before being attacked.
Arda, is reported to have then taken a gun to hospital whilst visiting Berkay, apologising and then asking the singer to kill him.
The incident comes after the former Atletico Madrid man was banned for 16 games for punching a linesman back in May.
Berkay’s lawyers are now pushing for a lengthy sentence and it is claimed that prosecutors believes the full 12,5 suggested sentence is looking extremely likely.
Turan has been fined approximately €370,000 by Istanbul Basaksehir for his part in the incident.
Arda was banned for 16 matches in May 2018 after punching a linesman.
