Florentino Perez is awaiting a telephone call from Eden Hazard over his future, La Liga News UK understands.
Long have Real Madrid been interested in the Chelsea play-maker with Perez a fond admirer of his talents, both for club and country, having played a prominent part in Belgium’s international side over the last few years and their World Cup third placed finish last summer.
The 28-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since 2012, winning two league titles, an FA Cup, League Cup and Europea League in the process.
However, it is understood that his future now lies away from the English club, with Perez tempting him with playing in La Liga and becoming the key focal point of Los Blancos as they seek to lure the La Liga title out of the hands of Barcelona, who have dominated domestically in recent years.
Whilst La Liga is a temptation, Madrid’s success in the Champions League also wants to be maintained by Perez and he believes that Hazard will add to that success, replacing Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Juventus last summer.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed by Hazard himself – that his future was decided and that he would make an announcement soon.
And, we understand that news has left the Madrid president anxiously waiting by his phone for either a call from Hazard or his representatives.
Should Hazard decide to stay in the Premier League – Perez will be forced to turn his attention elsewhere, having shown interest in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain in the past.
