Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo has been ruled out of action for a month with an injury, it has been confirmed.
The Brazilian joined the Catalan club from Gremio this summer and has since become a key figure in the starting eleven, drawing comparisons to former greats, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.
Having made 27 appearances in all competitions thus far, Arthur produced another good performance against Real Madrid in El Clasico on Wednesday evening, helping Barca come from 1-0 down to draw the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarter final tie.
The injury comes after training this week and will be a big blow to boss Ernesto Valverde, who is a keen admirer.
Arthur is now set to miss the games against Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, two games with Real Madrid and Olympique Lyonnais.
Arturo Vidal and Philippe Coutinho are expected to be given a chance to replace the young midfielder, whilst La Masia graduate Carles Alena is also making his presence felt at the Camp Nou.
Barca return to league action this Sunday when they travel to face Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.
A win for the Catalans will see them move clear at the top of the La Liga table, sitting above Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, who meet on Saturday in the Madrid derby.
