Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals has agreed a deal to join Napoli this coming summer.
Former Malaga man Fornals currently has a €25m release clause at Villarreal and Correire dello Sport report that a dealer has been agreed between both clubs.
Fornals will link up with Fabian Ruiz in Italy, who left Real Betis last summer for the Serie A outfit and despite finding playing time and form hard to come by at the start of the campaign – he has since pushed his way into the starting eleven in Naples.
A goal last month against Sassuolo and 90 minutes in the win over Lazio at the weekend has seen his fortunes change and according to Marca – officials at the club are now keen to bring in Fornals, who would play alongside the 22-year-old.
The Yellow Submarine currently sit second from bottom in La Liga and links of an exit for Fornals have been ongoing since the summer when Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham showed interest from the English Premier League.
A regular for Villarreal, Fornal has featured in every league game this season, meaning his exit would leave a gap in the midfield area.
It was initially reported that Fornals was not interested in the move, but Villarreal’s form and on field troubles are said to have changed that stance.
