Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois has publically criticised Gareth Bale of his efforts to adapt to Madrid life.
The former Chelsea stopper was speaking to HLN following the defeat to Girona at the weekend which saw Bale subject to more critique from the club’s fans and Spanish press.
Courtois said: “For me, here I live like someone born in Madrid…I eat late and go to bed late, its how you live here.
“We all had dinner recent but Bale and Kroos did not go because they thought it was too late – we met up at 9.30pm and were having coffee at midnight. We then went to bed at 1am and had training at 11am the next day, which I believe is the perfect time to be resting.
“Bale said he would not go because he needed to be in by 11pm.”
Bale has struggled this term for consistency and played a rather subdued role in the weekend defeat to Girona at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The home side did take the lead through Casemiro, who headed a cross past Yaccine Bounou in the 25th minute and in truth – Madrid dominated from that point on.
The second half began with Girona on the front foot however as Cristhian Stuani and Portu began to cause problems.
And, it was the former who got the visitors on level terms as he scored from then penalty spot in the 65th minute.
Ten minutes later and Stunai would be involved again, providing a flick in the move which ended up putting Girona ahead.
The lively Portu would head in at the back post to leave the Bernabeu in shock as Thibaut Courtois failed to keep him at bay.
Vinicius Jr did try to get Madrid back on level terms but the sending off of Ramos left them facing an even bigger up hill battle.
Courtois had a last minute header go just wide after he came up from a corner, and the result stayed in favour of the visitors, who won at the Bernabeu for the first time in their career.
